Collaborative Research Networks (CRN) Program: Promotion of mental health and well-being in young people
This sub-project is conducted as part of the Collaborative Research Networks (CRN) Program, in association with leading researchers from Flinders University, Queensland University of Technology, the University of Melbourne, the University of South Australia and the University of Western Australia. It will enhance the quality of Australian research to reduce the mental health harms caused by bullying and other forms of social aggression among young people.
The sub-project pools a wealth of experience and diverse skill-sets across partners, which will increase the likelihood of obtaining competitive research grants and generating highly ranked publications in the area. The project will strengthen the quality and impact of all partner universities’ research by developing common research platforms for future collaboration and combining data sets to conduct meta-analyses. It will expand ECU’s research into bullying to cover other inter-related impacts on child mental health and provide a common research platform from which to launch and evaluate innovative multi-focus intervention approaches. Currently disparate research is being conducted largely due to limited processes to enable researchers to share data and directly build on each others’ findings. The “Early Career Researcher Training Schools”, and staff and student exchanges, will build a leading team of qualified health researchers to enhance and sustain research across the domains of health, education and psychology.
